Freshwater Lake
Accessible from the village of Laudat after a 45 minute hike, the north-west end of Freshwater Lake rises to an elevation of 2,500 feet(767m); with a depth of c.75ft, its serene beauty is made all the more exotic by the montane thicket with melastome shrubs and Heliconia plants leading to a gully overlooking the lake. Its main source of water comes from hydro-electric plants and is visited by a number of wetland birds – green-backed, little blue and great blue herons, common gallinule, blue-winged teal and ringed kingfisher.
