Freshwater Lake
Accessible from the village of Laudat after a 45 minute hike, the north-west end of Freshwater Lake rises to an elevation of 2,500 feet(767m); with a depth of c.75ft, its serene beauty is made all the more exotic by the montane thicket with melastome shrubs and Heliconia plants leading to a gully overlooking the lake. Its main source of water comes from hydro-electric plants and is visited by a number of wetland birds – green-backed, little blue and great blue herons, common gallinule, blue-winged teal and ringed kingfisher.

Native
Depart Roseau, travel up the lush Antrim Valley and the East Atlantic Coast to the Carib Indian Village for a real Native Experience with your Carib Indian Tour Guide. Dominica is the only island where the indigenous Caribs have survived and live together as a group in their own community. Learn from your guide about the lives of these proud and noble people who once ruled the Eastern Caribbean. Hike to the legendary L’Escalier Tete-chien, visit, the Salybia Church and Bay, travel along the “Horse Back Ridge”, sit under a tree on the grass and have a real local lunch prepared Carib Style. Forget about the hustle and bustle of the commercial world, relax and enjoy nature as it was meant to be. Take a rejuvenating swim in the Pagua River, which still bears the name given to it by the Carib People who came to Dominica over 500 years ago.
